Storyscapes – Campfire Stories and Songs with Maygen Kardash

Join us at Nutrien Wonderhub with local musician and storyteller, Maygen Kardash, to hear stories and sing songs that we hear around the campfire. Participants will play games, explore constellations and create their very own constellation story.
About Maygen Kardash:
Maygen Kardash is a stay-at-home mom of two children, a Girl Guide leader of 15 years, and a writer with a focus on family. She appreciates young people and their willingness to try new things. She has a Tiny Talk column in Refined magazine and a personal blog, Sneakers & Lipstick. Her other passion is music; she has had the opportunity to travel throughout North America and China with several rock bands. “That love of music permeates into my parenting and my leadership. I’m willing to bet that I know a thousand kids’ songs…and the actions to many of them.”
About Storyscapes:
StoryScapes is a nine-session program developed by Nutrien Wonderhub to engage children ages 3-12 years through a variety of storytelling methods. The intent of this program is to inspire children to look beyond the book when learning or telling stories.
Some examples of storytelling that we are looking for, but are not limited to, are music, song, dance, spoken word, visual arts, technology and traditions. Each session, a new method of storytelling will be introduced to participants through pre-registered/drop-in sessions.
The program sessions will take place at both the museum and external community centres. This enables the museum and storytellers to offer the program throughout the community in closer neighbourhoods for participants.
All sessions are designed to present an interesting and enjoyable experience that encourage participants to be curious and creative in with their own self-expression.
