In 2024, Nutrien Wonderhub will continue to build on the success of it’s much-loved Storyscapes Program, designed to serve as a vibrant hub connecting local artists, creators and community builders with children and families from Saskatoon and surrounding area. Hosted at Saskatchewan’s only children’s museum, this dynamic and inclusive program not only celebrates the art of storytelling but also serves as a catalyst for community connections. By embracing a multisensory approach and ensuring accessibility for participants, the program strives to enrich the lives of children and families while promoting the diverse narratives that contribute to the rich tapestry of our local community.

Location: Meet in Upper Lobby

Date: February 22, 2025 – 2 sessions: 1-2pm and 2-3pm

Description: Let’s embark on a fun journey of expression through nature journaling! What to Expect: Exploration: We’ll start with an interactive nature walk to explore signs of animal and plant life along the riverside.  Maybe we’ll find some leaves or other bits of nature to add to our journals! You can expect to be outside for about 30 minutes. (Dress for the weather!) Artistic Expression: We’ll return inside and using simple drawing and writing techniques, participants will capture their observations, thoughts and ideas in their very own nature journals! This session is perfect for fostering a love for the environment and enhancing both scientific and artistic skills. All materials will be provided, and children will take home their custom nature journals filled with their personal discoveries.

Presenter bio: Chantelle Edwards currently works as a Climate Education Coordinator for SaskOutdoors in partnership with EcoSchools Canada. She holds a B.Sc. in palaeobiology and a B.A. in modern languages from the University of Saskatchewan. Through a decade-long career in animal care at the Forestry Farm Park and Zoo in Saskatoon, she developed a love of interacting with the public and inspiring meaningful connections with nature. She has a strong belief that education inspires appreciation and appreciation inspires action for positive change.
