In 2024, Nutrien Wonderhub will continue to build on the success of it’s much-loved Storyscapes Program, designed to serve as a vibrant hub connecting local artists, creators and community builders with children and families from Saskatoon and surrounding area. Hosted at Saskatchewan’s only children’s museum, this dynamic and inclusive program not only celebrates the art of storytelling but also serves as a catalyst for community connections. By embracing a multisensory approach and ensuring accessibility for participants, the program strives to enrich the lives of children and families while promoting the diverse narratives that contribute to the rich tapestry of our local community.

Time: 2:30-4:30 pm
Description of Session: This session will include a reading from the book “Nature’s Apprentices: Magic of the Peatlands” followed by choice activities. The participants will have the opportunity to make some peat-free potting soil for planting native wildflower seeds. They will also have the option to make their own science fantasy story, choosing from different local ecosystems for setting and characters and sharing with the group for the closing of the session.

Elizabeth Bekolay is a mother, ecologist, nature-based educator, writer, composer, and executive director of One School One Farm Shelterbelt Project. ‘Nature’s Apprentices: The Magic of the Peatlands’ is Elizabeth’s first book. It was community-published through a Kickstarter, to ensure the books were printed in Canada on recycled paper.
