Little Learners is a weekly program designed to provide hands-on, playful learning for toddlers while also offering parents and caregivers a chance to connect and learn. August 26 – STEM for Littles: Nature Play

Location: North Woods – Gathering Space

Activity: This Little Learners will focus on all the things we can learn from nature around us. We’ll gather in north woods before heading outside of Wonderhub to participate in some fun nature games and activities designed for the littlest Wonderhubbers.

August 12 – Mark Making

Location: North Woods – Gathering Space

Activity: Join us as we explore mark making as an early step in developing their fine motor skills, creativity, and pre-writing abilities. Even the littlest hands can make their mark through hands on materials! Through exploration and play, children will discover how to use a variety of tools and materials to make marks and express themselves.

July 29 – Loose Parts

Location: North Woods – Gathering Space

Activity: Littles will interact with different types of loose parts, blocks, and materials to develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and creativity. Activities will encourage experimentation, sorting, and exploration of cause and effect. Adults will learn how this type of play aids development of early mathematical and spatial reasoning skills.

July 22 – Sensory Play

Location: North Woods – Gathering Space

Activity: This program will spark curiosity as we engage the senses in a fun and hands-on way. Through open-ended exploration of texture, sounds, and colours, children will learn to explore the world around them.

July 15 – STEM for Littles: Water

Location: Green Room (top floor) **Note the location change for this week

Activity: Join us with your little for a splashing good time! At Little Learners today, we will learn about water as we play and explore. What floats? What sinksThis session uses activities from the Project Wet Canada Resource Guide to help connect little learners to the world around them.

Activity: Ready to get your hands dirty? Join us as we learn about plants, growing, and starting seeds. Create your own seed packet to take home, or start some seeds that will be used in our indoor garden in Create Space! Come enjoy some summer time fun as we learn about plants together.

June 10 – STEM for Littles: Oceans

Location: Create Space *changed from the usual North Woods

Activity: Join us as we celebrate ocean’s week at Wonderhub. At Little Learners today, we will learn about water as we play, splash and explore! This week, we’ll be in Create Space to enjoy Monique Martin’s artwork titled “An Ocean of Plastic.” After our water play, we’ll create some ocean inspired process-artwork.

May 20 – Music and Movement

Location: North Woods – Gathering Space 

Activity: This week, toddlers will get moving with music, exploring rhythm, dance, and sound. Through fun songs, instruments, and movement activities, toddlers will build coordination, balance, and a sense of rhythm. Gain an understanding of how music and movement influence brain development, language acquisition, and emotional expression in young children.
