T\u00e2n\u2019si, my name is Brittney McKinnon (Almightyvoice). I am from One Arrow First Nation and currently reside in Saskatoon. Family is very important to me; I have 3 children and a wonderful husband. After teaching in One Arrow for 2 years, I switched to Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools and am currently teaching at St. Lorenzo Ruiz. I previously taught at St. Michael Community School for many years. St. Michael School is a Michif-based school and focuses on language and culture. Being an Indigenous educator has been a privilege and a great learning journey. Jigging has been an integral part of my life since I was 7 years old, while attending dry dances and jigging competitions was a favorite past time. At St. Michael school I taught M\u00e9tis content, jigging and square dancing to the students. It gives me immense pride seeing not only the students dance but also the staff. Indigenous and M\u00e9tis education is rising in Saskatchewan and will continue with the great support from dedicated educators everywhere.<\/p>\n
