Job purpose

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Maintenance & Custodian Worker works in partnership with the Operations team to provide a healthy and safe environment at Nutrien Wonderhub. The Maintenance & Custodian Worker ensures the museum fixtures, exhibits, systems and spaces are maintained to provide enjoyable experiences for all patrons visiting the museum. They will also work with the Custodian to clean and sanitize floors, restrooms, and surfaces in addition to special bi-annual deep cleaning projects and cleaning spaces used for private rentals after operating hours.

Duties and responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. General Maintenance & Repair
    1. Facilitate the repair or replacement of any spaces, exhibits and or fixture that requires immediate attention as identified by the Operations Manager;
    2. Work with the Operations Manager to secure materials and supplies required for maintenance and repair as needed.
  2. Preventative Maintenance
    1. Work with the Operations Manager to develop a preventative maintenance plan for the museum spaces and exhibits;
    2. Work with the Operation Manager to develop procedural manuals for maintenance activities and projects;
    3. Carryout the determined schedule of duties for preventative maintenance.
  3. Cleaning and Sanitizing
    1. All floors and restrooms at the end of operating days;
      1. Floors consist of VCT, Carpet, Safety Flooring and Tile;
      2. Restrooms consist of counters, mirrors, fixtures, sink and toilets.
    2. Surfaces designated for weekly cleaning;
      1. Dusting and wiping higher surfaces and specialized areas that cannot be attended to while patrons are in the exhibit spaces.
    3. Assist in bi-annual deep cleaning projects;
      1. Carpet Shampooing;
      2. Climber cleaning.
    4. Private rental cleaning
      1. Performing all cleaning duties for areas used in private rentals after museum operating hours.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The Maintenance Worker will have 3-5 year’s experience fulfilling maintenance work and repair duties, custodian duties, familiarity and experience cleaning public facilities that experience high public traffic, the ability to work on a team and independently, and will value the organizations vision and mission as they will work to create the healthy, safe and sanitary environment that all patrons will fulfill the vision and mission in.

Working conditions

Full time position of 40 hours per week.

Position works a weekdays, weekends with partial evening hours.

This position will be located at the Nutrien Wonderhub site in Saskatoon.

Hourly Wage: $20 (Benefit coverage after three month probationary period)

Start Date: June 7, 2019

This position requires working with the following equipment: hand and power tools, ladders, cleaning products and cleaning equipment.

The operating environment is such that staff may be required to work extra hours to meet the needs of the organization. While staff need to be flexible in their work schedules, the Nutrien Wonderhub is committed to providing appropriate time-in-lieu and/or compensation.
