Storyscapes: Oral Storytelling in Métis Culture

freeJoin local Métis / Michif Educator and Storyteller, Samson LaMontagne at Wonderhub to learn about Métis Culture through storytelling. Participants will be invited learn about Métis Culture and traditions such as the Métis Flag, Sash, Spoons and Jigging. Samson will also be sharing the Michif language through songs, games, worksheets and colouring sheets.

Supervision requirements: 1 adult to 6 children/youth

Tân’si / Taanishi! Samson LaMontagne is a Métis / Michif Educator from Regina, Saskatchewan. Samson began learning Michif while attending SUNTEP (Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher Education Program) at the University of Saskatchewan over 10 years ago. He now teaches Grade 4 at Georges Vanier School of Fine Arts in Saskatoon. In his free time he enjoys creating resources and supporting communities from all over Canada with his Michif Zoom Classes. Samson also provides free Michif content on social media. His goal is to help with the preservation and revitalization of the Michif language. He believes every person that learns Michif not only helps breathe life back into the language but also answers the ‘Calls to Action’ with Truth and Reconciliation!
